Magdelna Bay 2025

My Blog

Welcome to my blog! I'll be using this to tell you about my travels.

Magdelna Bay 2025

The last week of February I headed down to Baja California with Seasick Productions to go look for gray whales.  These whales head down south to Magdalena Bay and San Ignacio Lagoon during the winter months to mate and give birth to their babies.

We flew from Tijuana to La Paz, stayed overnight in La Paz, then a 3 hour trip to Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos, located in Magdalena Bay, where a large number of boats go out to look for gray whales.  The village is very small, a small number of restaurants and hotels.  In our case, we stayed in the Whales Nest Cabanas, just a short walk to the docks for the pangas.

Our hopes were high, but on this trip we did not have any encounters with whales coming up to the boat.  There were still a large number of whales to watch, many spy hops, a few breaches and of course many mother whales with their babies.

Finally returning back to La Paz after 3 days, to stay overnight before returning.
